Garmin nuvi 2240

P. J. Bridge, Amazon
19 October 2012
  • Summary: Excellent product and does everything you need from a SatNav. Lane assist function works well and there is photo realistic junction view, although this is only on selected major A road and Motorway junctions. The junction image shows up for about five seconds and then disappears. I can't find any way of changing the settings for this as it would be useful if the image stayed on the screen a little longer. The junction view is not in real time, it's just a fixed image.

much better than earlier version (apart from the voice)

Jan H, Amazon
17 September 2012
  • Summary: my old western Europe Garmin (Nuvi 205), bought in Dec 2008, was very out of date mapwise, & also insisted on rebooting - very slowly - every time the car ignition had been switched off. This one does switch itself off 15 secs after the ignition goes off, but is back in action very swiftly when turned on again. OTOH my old one had a very inoffensive voice.

Garmin Nuvi 2240 with Europe

Peter - Yorkshire, Amazon
17 February 2012
  • Summary: Nice product, much slimmer than my old version. Speaks the street names which is useful and the 'lane assist' is another improvement. Very good price from BMW Direct and very quick delivery. Can recommend product and seller.

Unfair reviews

Raymond Darling, Amazon
30 December 2011
  • Summary: I have to say i thought the reviews above where bad were unfair and here is why. I bought this to repacle the 255w widescreen i had a while ago. The advantages of this out weight it. 1. It tells you the name of the road to enter onto. This is an advantage when roads are signposted. When they are not the turn is usually an isolated turn you cannot miss. 2. It allows you adjust the speed limit. 3. It give you mobile danger zones.

Garmin

Lars, Amazon
12 December 2011
  • Summary: This is a reasonably priced car GPS that has the main functions. It arrived after only a few days and I was happy with that. I did have problems setting it up so had to contact Garmin and got good support from them but it did disturb me that it was not just "plug and play". The product works fine except for the pronunciation of street names. Saalisborough and Lei-cester is not good enough. I have now selected the voice without street names.

Beam me up Garmin!

Miss Noreen P. Fogarty "rathnaleen1", Amazon
12 September 2011
  • Summary: I love this product! Although I have used a sat nav in the past (borrowed from a friend) I have not experienced anything as straightforward as this one. The route is really clearly marked and the "voice" is pleasant - unlike so many other voiced products I own! As many other reviewers have commented (I read the reviews before purchasing!)the street name function is brilliant - you have an instant check that you have taken the correct turning.

A great little gadget!

Mr. S. Newton, Amazon
8 June 2011
  • Summary: Actually bought this sat nav + Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2011 Map Update Micro/SD Card for a probably (but, hopefully not!) one off trip to Florida with the family in April 2011. The idea was to get a reasonably priced sat nav for home/european use and to adapt it for use in the US. The cost of hiring a sat nav with your hire car/van in the US is almost the same cost and you have nothing to show for it when your finished. So, we thought it was a good idea.

Klein und fein.

Reinhard Polz, Amazon
17 June 2013
