Adaquate

Lawrence G., Newegg
29 March 2011
  • Pros: It is functional and you will always be able to get home. I also like the ability to download cars and voices.
  • Cons: The routes are not always the best. It does not offer many of the viewing options I got used to on another brand.

User Review

ROHIT A., Newegg
17 March 2011
  • Pros: good quality, shipped on time, easy to use
  • Cons: There was no USB cable with the product. If you have to update the new maps from website then you need to buy a USB cable first. I used my blackberry USB cable.

Anonymous, Newegg
5 March 2011
  • Summary: Bought this unit to throw in the car just in case I need it. It was cheap so if something happens to it no big deal. Fills basic GPS needs. Does what it supposed to on the cheap.
  • Pros: 1.Gets the job done cheap.
  • Cons: 1.Not a lot of frills.

Substandard GPS

Devanarayanan R., Newegg
3 January 2011
  • Summary: Very subpar product for the price, consider moving up to the next model.
  • Pros: Acquires sattilites pretty quickly. Screen is good quality. Pretty snappy overall.
  • Cons: Voice prompts are next to useless. Instead of saying "Turn left at Elk St in 200 feet", it'll say "Turn left in 200 ft". Furthermore, it doesn't provide advance warning of turns. So you need to be looking at the screen at all times instead of relying on the prompts.

Good after a long time

Kevin M., Newegg
28 October 2010
  • Summary: It was much faster when i initially got it, then as time moves on, it got slower... But thats probably because i dropped it a couple times, the mount to the window and the dash is really weak, and will easily fall off during sunny days.
  • Pros: Been using this for a long time now, it works great for the most part, gets me where i needed to go. Brightness is good enough to be seen on sunny days, voice is loud enough, since i never open my windows anyway.
  • Cons: Signal is really slow to receive, sometimes takes over 10 minutes of driving for it to get signal. it sometimes gets confused/ not accurate enough when i'm traveling along highway. It thinks i'm traveling on the highway when in reality i'm traveling next to it...and also sometimes give me weird d...

Bad luck?

Alison Shih "AL", Amazon
29 August 2010
  • Summary: Update: 9/26/2011 I received a replacement unit from Garmin, but I chose to go back to my TomTom. I recently passed this Garmin to my brother, and it's treating him pretty well for the pass 2 weeks. Hasn't run into any problems I had with the previous unit, and hopefully it will stay that way.

Decent GPS, directions aren't that great

John B., Newegg
8 March 2010
  • Pros: The maps update was fairly reasonable, the maps look good and accurate, the downloadable voices are pretty cool, the squirrel is hilarious.
  • Cons: I did some runs with routes that I knew fairly well, the directions were pretty lousy. It constantly is directing me off the highway, even though it is the quickest route and that's the priority I selected. It also has a bad habit of telling me to go the wrong way down one way service roads

Manojit P., Newegg
21 January 2010
  • Summary: nice & cheap but its like the old grand fathers clock .. too old tech for today's world.
  • Pros: excellent gps provdided you have the unlimited lifetime subscription
  • Cons: It has a lousy sat receiver which takes sometimes upto 15 mins or 10 miles to get connected and start giving directions and yes it does not tell the names of the street to turn into etc

No surface streets?

JAY N., Newegg
4 January 2010
  • Summary: I have not yet gone online for updates but no USB connect cable appeared in my initial inspection of the box contents. Must admit that I have not had much time to play with it so far; will update this review if I am pleasantly surprised later on.
  • Pros: Good reception, steady and fast, easy to set up and use, Newegg shipping and delivery was amazingly speedy.
  • Cons: Pre-loaded maps had good major highway detail but no surface streets for Chicago's larger near-west suburbs. Can this be right? I have used three other GPS Brands which all included U.S. minor surface streets right out of the box, wondering if major city detail maps might be add on for which addi...
