Summary: I absolutely love this GPS. I live in Seattle and the traffic around here can be murderous. I purchased this model to get the real time traffic updates and let me tell you, it was well worth it.
Summary: I have owned Garmin GPS Navigation since the Street Pilot several years ago, upgrading as the technology became reasonably priced and keeping up with the most current models. There are some features they took away from the previous generation (like the wireless push button for voice commands) and...
Summary: I have owned the Garmin Nüvi 1690 unit for 9 months, and was so impressed with its performance that I had to write this review. Before I purchased this item, I read all of the reviews on Amazon, as well as reviews on other sites.
Summary: I drive everyday in the DMV area. For me haveing a smart phone is not an option because I am hard on phones. I am on the floor under things in and out of tight places. I had the gps about 60 days. about 3000 miles. The touchscreen has been fine for me and I have big hands.
Summary: I purchased a Nuvi 660 when they first appeared on the market and I still use it. On first look at the Nuvi 1690 (online) I didn't feel the newer model had any significant benefits or reasons for me to upgrade.
Summary: So far I am very happy with my purchase. If you are looking for MP3 player, external GPS antenna, headphone jack, look elsewhere because this unit does not have these. I like the touchscreen much better than my NUVI 755 touchscreen, it is much more accurate.
Summary: I have owned several Garmin Automotive GPS Units; 2610, 2620, 350, 680 and now the 1690. I received the Nuvi 1690 on January 18th and immediately went to the Garmin website and performed all necessary firmware and software updates.
Summary: I have had several Garmin automotive navigation devices and was looking to replace my nuvi 760 (top of the line when I bought it at the time). After researching the 1490T, 1390T & 765T, I settled on the nuvi 1690 (Garmin's current top of the line model).
Summary: I kept going back and forth on the Garmin... the 1490 or the 1690.. I read so many reviews in my search for the best Garmin for the price and my minimum requirements for features. I finally decided to purchase the Garmin 1690 because at the time of this writing, it was their newest device.

Summary: Almost didn't buy this GPS because of the bad reviews. Glad I tried it for myself. The NUlink services are awesome. If you think only 6 millions Points of interest is enough, think again. With the google local search you can find ANYTHING.
