Summary: Lifetime maps is defiantly something to look for when your choosing models. Spend the few extra dollars now and you will be very glad you did later.
Pros: NUVI beats TomTom everytime.. I've had a few of both, and the Garmin's are just a much better experience overall. Having this in the windshield showing the posted speedlimit and your current speed side-by-side in your line of sight is extremely helpful to stay aware of limit changes. Saved me fro...
Summary: I get in my car and turn it on, we're pretty much ready to go immediately. The new display posts speed limit signs of major roads flush left on the screen, which is a new feature that is also really helpful, if you're driving in an unfamiliar area.
Summary: This is an awesome garmin nuvi, love the bluetooth option. And the screen is 5" which is huge compared the last edition of the garmin nuvi I had. The sound is clear and you cant beat the lifetime maps and traffic. I would definately recommend this to anyone.
Pros: I love using a unit that is truly dedicated to GPS functionality. Therefore, this Garmin nuvi 1490t blasted all my expectations. Cons: A very very tiny white-line appears at the bottom of the screen. Hmmmm.
Summary: You can probably find what model you want, but finding it takes a bit of effort. I decided Lifetime Map and Traffic updates made sense for the long haul - this model has it. I also bought the 5" display since I can see it better on the dash.
Summary: We are very pleased with the way our Garmin works. We thought we would take a short cut we knew. We were sure that Garmin would say "Recalculating." He sure surprised us--He told us to turn at the short cut.
