very helpful navigator, i would not drive on a long trip without it!
12 February 2014
Summary: helps me to get to places i have not been with less stress and confusion than by using printed maps and directions. saves gas by knowing more direct routes and about traffic. it's advice is generally but not 100% accurate. i wouldn't drive on a long trip without this or a similar Garmin device.
Summary: Os the most reliable navigator i ever purchased .and i have pirchased various navigators so I need something to be reliable that to get m.e from Part A to point B and hands down this one is the best
Summary: Overall, a great unit--I like it better than the built-in in my 2012 Camry. Particularly, it tells me specifically when I'm arriving and which side of the road (the built-in in my Camry is a bit vague and doesn't give me the side of the road). Biggest flaw has been the voice synthesis, which sometimes is a little odd--parts of words occasionally run together or pronunciation is off.
Summary: I purchased this model, after finding my newer GPS(2555LMT)lacked some of the features of the older models. In particular, older models support user defined routes better than the Nuvi 2555 series. This was of interest to me, as I am planning my trip on Route 66, and need the routing to be displayed correctly. Unit looks brand new, had all the required accessories, and works great!
Terrific GPS Unit, Multifunctional, user friendly, larger touch screen!

Summary: Needed a GPS to find our way back home from an out of state vehicle purchase. Found a great truck with every option except Navigation and wanted a portable unit with a larger screen. The Nuvi 1490T fit the bill with it's five inch touch screen and traffic advisor option. Its larger size, easy to understand touch screen functions and audible route directions make for simple set up and usage.
Summary: We needed a new GPS and this seemed to fit the need quite well. It is easy to use easy to see, has lifetime updates and can be used with the phone for hands free operation. Garmins seem to be more user friendly than some of the other brands.

Pros: Nice large, bright display, fairly easy to use, very good maps. Bluetooth is very timely and handy. The lifetime map updates is a great feature. FM speed and traffic updates and display are a great idea.
Cons: Eco-Route is a joke, only one vehicle profile, the touch screen should have better resolution & crisper graphics. The update process takes far too long; see below for more.
Summary: My Garmin 1490t was a great buy i use it on my last trip to ST Louis Mo to see the dotor. St Louis is a very bussy town had no problem finding where i was going. And finding my way home. The display is easy to read. The features are nice tells how fast to go and when i am going to fast.My gas miliage and so manny others it's very easy to use.So when your not sure what way to go are how to get here it a very valueble tool. And the unlited upgrades are nice.
