"GPS works well, but advanced features underwhelming."
25 October 2013
Pros: -Really does a nice job of routing to destinations. -Provides access to POIs when not within reach of a cell tower, although sometimes not accurate.
Cons: -POIs not real-time as are those on cellphones. -Must update manually to make sure POIs are accurate and up-to-date. -Traffic info only available in major urban locations, not along interstate routes.
Cons: Bought this unit soon after it came out....paid an extra hundred bucks for the lifetime update. Since purchase, have moved to another state and tried (for the first time) to get the lifetime free update....Garmin customer service (?) is telling me my 1450 is not tied to lifetime updates but I am welcome to buy. If you think you will be getting lifetime updates....maybe, maybe not. (I have the nuMaps lifetime card with the code for the updates that came with the gps). ...
Summary: I am very happy with Walmart for convenient online buying, site-to-store shipping and easy returns. This is the first time I bought something that didn't work after I tried to turn it on at home.
Summary: I have 2 other Garmin's that have worked for years with no problem. I'm so frustrated with this one I would take it back if it wasn't over an hour drive to do so. The on off switch does not seem to really work. Even thought the unit seams to be shut off it's not and a fully charged battery the next morning will be dead. The other Nuvi we have the on off switch works fine. If it worked as it should I would give the ease of use a 5.
