Summary: I was expecting the traffic info with this GPS to be like Googlemaps where you get a look-ahead sense of traffic and can plan for alternate routes. Instead, all you get is an intermittant notification (usually incorrect) that tells you traffic in your path is delayed a couple of minutes. The GPS functions itself are fine but don't waste the money to purchase this 'traffic' version when you'll get practically no value from it.
Summary: Initially, first trip it worked great! From then on thru today the unit keeps resetting itself. Went on line and there are a lot of these with the same issue. I am returning it. I do have a Zumo that has been flawless with the exection of the cradle for auto use. VERY weak connector! FYI, the unit was never dropped, bumped, looked at funny, just started resteeing itself.
Summary: Bizarro routes and too many quirks !! I give it two stars because there must be some worse automobile type GPSes out there. But one and a half would be more accurate. any handheld beats this for non driving. Hardware about 1-2 stars. Routing software zero stars. Documentation one star. Web site 1 star. Customer support 2-3 stars. UI 1-2 stars. You need to test this thing at home and learn its quirks before relying on it.
Summary: I purchased the Garmin 1450 and am not pleased with it. On more than one occasion the unit would not turn on even after being charged. I took it to Pennsylvania on a trip to test it while my sister used her Magellan GPS. The Magellan gave better directions while the Garmin seemed to have taken us the long way around. I am not pleased with the unit.
Summary: Here's the list of reasons why I wanted to scratch my eyeballs out after using this thing during a 1000 mile, 7 day trip. I'm beyond ooohing and aaahing over the cool looking screen and how super duper fast it locks onto a satellite signal. Clearly other reviewers aren't, so here goes: 1.)POI search is useless if you're searching for something beyond 100 miles from your current location. It simply gives up if it's too far away.
Summary: I think that this is a potentially great product but a common problem that Garmin has is problems with their touch screen. My particular one failed fairly quickly after purchase (2 months). In the process of searching for possible fixes for this issue, you see that a large number of Garmin devices have touch screen problems. More generally, I'm not convinced that Garmin is competing on device quality. Rather I think they are competing on features.
Summary: pros:big screen, does a fair job of doing basic routes, stores pictures cons:"intelligent" via point optimization is stupid, so is the eco-route feature, it cut out in the middle of my trip a couple times. Sent it for a refund. Gonna try a TomTom.
Summary: würde ich nicht weiter empfehlen. Verliert oft den Kontakt zu den Sateliten. Weiß nicht, dass man sich in einem längeren Tunnell befindet. muss öfters nach Berechnen. Upates dauern Stunden. Wirklich Stunden!! Das gleiche gilt für lange Touren berechnen. Nein Danke --- werde kein Garmen Navi mehr kaufen.
