Summary: I bought a Nextar GPS (cheap unit) 3 years ago. It performed well, but offered no map upgrade. I decided to buy another unit and settled on the Garmin 1390T. I enjoyed using it until I tried to get it to avoid interstate highways. There is no option that I can find for that! We like to ride secondary roads for sight-seeing. It's just unbelievable that the cheap unit I bought had an option the Garmin did not have.
Summary: There are a lot of things to like about the Nuvi 1390, but the bugs outweigh the benefits. The audio routinely stops working when a particular file, "mlg_history.db", reaches a critical size. This requires that the unit be attached to a computer and the file deleted. The more miles and destinations that are entered into the unit, the more quickly this file becomes too large. I have to delete this file about every three weeks, which to me is unacceptable.
Summary: Let me preface this review by saying I'm a long time Garmin user and have had 4 prior Garmin units. With that said, this model is terrible. I live in NJ and for whatever reason this unit refuses to take me on the Garden State Parkway. It will take me on the NJ Turnpike with no problem, but then wants me to drive through downtown Newark for no reason when I could just take the Parkway. Sadly, there has got to be something wrong with these units.
Summary: I need GPS to help me find things. This one can't even tell correctly the Highway I am on! When you turn it on it takes 10 min to find satellites - what I am suppose to just sit in the car and wait? Loses satellites every two-tree minutes - very annoying! I will bever buy anything Garmin ever again!
Summary: This is my second Garmin. Unfortunately, this unit is not what I expected. If you make a stop, it would not return back to the route you where going. At one point in route to North Carolina, it was pointing me to go through secondary roads, instead of I77. I knew if somebody who do not know the route follows the instructions he or she would be lost for hours. Lately, the GPS stop giving voice commands.
Summary: I am on a 30 minute wait to get an RMA from Garmin's nightmare support. This unit kept giving me erroneous directions and shutting down. Finally it wouldn't wake up. I will never buy from this company again.
Summary: Started out with the 760. Loved it, used it constantly, lost it in San Fran... Looked into another. Wanted traffic this time and saw that there is now "Lane Assist" so went for those options, plus Bluetooth and came up with this 1390t. It's wonderful - love the "Lane Assist" when driving on busy highways. An option worth it's money. I had trouble updating my maps, but contacted Garmin (after waiting on hold for 30+ min.
Summary: I bought 3 of these for family members. Within 2 months they all have crashed. Called Garmin, they called it an "endless reboot" and told me there is no known fix for this. Back to the store it goes!!!!
Summary: I bought a one with lifetime update card and i did not get it. It is not 1390T it's is only 1390 and there is no traffic update and in the picture it shows lane assist but it does not have that either! i Would not recommend this product to anyone. This is just waste of your money.
Summary: It started out nice... Loved the thin profile. Fit into the "sand bag" stand. Used it off and on for about 3 weeks, maybe 10 hours of "on" time. Driving around yesterday, it locked up and essentially became a brick. Did a hard power down, let it rest for an hour, turned it back on and it went into a constant loop of the garmin splash screen, unit never came back to life.
