Summary: Received the item and when I plugged into my computer, it went to the Garmin site which immediately said that I should upload the new updates but when I did, it did not have enough space to put in all of North America and I needed to choose either the East coast or West Coast, nor could i put in all of Europe, just part of it. What good is a GPS advertised as having all of North America and Europe when you can only fit on unit only about half of it.
Summary: The nuvi 1370T is (currently) the only model that comes with available maps for Europe, so if that is what you want or need then stop prevaricating and buy it. Maps available actually means setting up an account with Garmin, registering the product, locating the maps you need and downloading them.
Summary: This is my first GPS. I decided I wanted a good one and not the cheapest model out there. I chose the 1370 because it had a lot of cool features. However in everyday use I'm not very impressed with it. 1. I live in Texas and we have frontage roads. These are roads that run parallel to Interstates and other highways.
Summary: i have owned this product for about a year and a half now. there seems to be a lot of firmware related issues with the device that becoming really annoying after a while. i paid almost double what the current price of this unit is now so my review is going to be quite a bit more critical. i have updated the software in the past 3 or 4 months. it takes forever to load. compared to a much less expensive model nuvi with fewer features that is in my work vehicle.
Summary: I purchased the Garmin as a replacement of my Tom Tom that became damaged during a trip, (a cracked screen.) I travel to Europe frequently and depend upon my GPS to navigate. Recently during my last visit two weeks ago I used my Garmin for the first time. It turned out to be a very critical time as well; I found myself and three others traveling across Europe by car to find an open airport during the volcano shutdown of northern Europe.
Summary: I just purchased the 1370T and was surprised to find out that both the Europe and North America maps were out of date (2009) AND Garmin only gives you one free update. So, add $69.99 to the cost of the unit if you want updated maps. This is a very deceptive trade practice. Also, the hands-free operation is poor. On the plus side, it is very easy to use and the points of interest is a nice feature.
Summary: This is my first GPS so I don't know how it compares to other's, but this one was very frustrating. 1) I am sure this was a fault unique to this particular unit, but it would shutdown randomly and not come back on for a period of 20 minutes to 1 hour. It seemed like it would go out just when I was getting close to my destination and needed the detailed directions. 2) It only found the correct route about 50% of the time.
Summary: Buyers should be aware that the "lifetime subscription to Navtraffic" is actually an FM (as in FM radio) ad based service that pops ads onto your screen based on your location. You have to touch the screen to get rid of the ad. To turn the ads off - get this - you have to turn traffic off (page 37 in the owners manual). Another thing..
Summary: Replacing a 2009 Nuvi 775 model. One disappointment is that the custom routing, which I use a lot, is no longer offered. Also after pointing a certain location, unlike the older model, I was not able to make the bubble disappear and stay on the map. Other than that the maps are very current. Haven't tested for long drive yet, but it did have info that the older model was missing. Also the car connection is simpler than the older model.
