Summary: Good satnav well made very good volume but let down on pronoucing names of street names which is unusual for garmam.for instance instead of tottington it will say tittington must have been thinking of a couple of things when putting micro chip
Summary: I have had this satnav for about a month now and I am beginning to get to grips with it. I don't think it is as easy to operate as my old TomTom (Go 300) but it does have many brilliant features. + Plus points: + I do like the ability to check flight arrival times just by entering the airport. + Searching for points of interest like stations and ports is very easy.
Summary: The screen is a bit larger than standard and this makes the maps very clear and easy to read. The spoken instructions are clear and useful. Route changes are made quickly. Product includes continental maps as well as British. Initial set up takes 5 hours which is tedious. Small niggle is that the announcement that 'You have arrived at your destination' comes 25 yards prematurely (no change from earlier models). A good satnav product generally easy to use.
Summary: What a deal...with the Garmin cash back.. this super piece of equipment was around £100 (with £30 from Garmin)..search the site for the Garmin Navi 1695.. full of info / add ons..took me a bit to learn how to programme, but didn't let me down once on a 2000 mile trip over the Alps in France..so get one!
Summary: I have now used this for some long journeys to places I've never been to before as well as to those I know very well and overall I am generally very pleased with it. However, the first unit had to be replaced. When trying to set it up I kept encountering errors with bluetooth links despite having compatible phones (four of them!) Garmin support answered my call after 10 minutes on hold at lunchtime on a weekday.
Summary: I have had several days of software problems with this GPS. They are now resolved, but it was a pain. I'll give you the whole background then the details. I bought the nulink 1695 to replace a nuvi 1490 which was stolen from my unlocked car. The 1490 was excellent, totally reliable, and I note that it has a very high customer satisfaction rating in Amazon customer reviews. As well as this, I own a Garmin 705 recreational GPS for cycling.
Summary: I had expected this satnav to deliver all I had expected and it did. It was very accurate when I used it to navigate from my home in Wiltshire, through France and Belgium to a destination in Germany. The traffic reports were very accurate and it truly saved the day when we entered a massive traffic jam on the Ring Road just north of Brussels.
Summary: This is a great unit, Garmin's best so far. The only gripe I have is that it takes forever to download the regular lifetime map updates. I have tried Apple and Windows, the same. Often it breaks down after hours of downloading and you have to try from scratch.
