The screen supports 600 x 266 pixels resolution.

Features

The Garmin GTN 650 features a shallow menu structure, desktop-like menu interface with intuitive icons, audio and visual feedback, and animation that allows users to know exactly the systems are responding to their input. It also features a touchscreen alphanumeric keyboard, and also utilizes a “back” icon for quick operation. It is designed with a finger anchoring bezel around the side of the display and fingerboard at the bottom of the screen, and features a dual concentric knob for data entry, volume/squelch knob, “home” button and “direct to” button for basic fundamentals like establishing a route and changing COM frequencies, and a home key. The GTN 650 also features graphical flight planning capability (patent pending) that lets users edit an active flight plan route on the map, enter a new waypoint or modify the sequence by tapping or dragging their finger on the screen. The unit also lets users overlay vector airways and high-altitude jet routes on moving maps, and select airway segments onscreen for instant entry into a flight plan. Other features on the system include a “rubber band” feature that lets users select a flight plan leg on the screen and then alter it to accommodate a deviation or ATC amendment, ability to pan across the map display by swiping their finger across the screen, built-in terrain elevation database which shows color-coded alerts when potential terrain conflicts are ahead, GPS-guided LPV glidepath approaches down to ILS-comparable minimums and calculationg of course deviation and roll steering outputs that can be coupled to select autopilots so that IFR flight procedures may be flown automatically. The unit also comes with optional XM WX Satellite Weather™, lightning, and traffic system inputs; XM radio with XM WX Satellite Weather™ and radio service; a 10-watt COM, and a field upgradeable 16-watt version. The GTN 650 is SBAS/WAAS enabled.
