Dennoch hat es nach wie vor seine Existenzberechtigung. Es findet seinen Platz in professionellen Bereichen, in denen ein Gerät mit schneller, präziser Anzeige eingesetzt werden muss, das unter allen Bedingung bedienbar und ablesbar bleiben muss. Hier stoßen die Konkurrenten mit Touchscreen an ihre Grenzen.
  • Pros: hervorragende Ablesbarkeit, präzises GPS mit schnellem Sat-Fix, gute Verarbeitung und Haptik, lange Akkulaufzeit, Barometer, 3-Achsen-Kompass, unter allen Bedingungen bedienbar
  • Cons: relativ hoher Preis, z.T. umständliche Bedienung, geringe Bildschirmauflösung, kleines Display, Akkus können nicht im Gerät geladen werden
