Summary: I had this unit for 2 years before it completely died for no reason! I called Garmin, and they don't offer any type of diagnostics or repair for the unit. That is ridiculous! The instructions that came with it should have stated that once you buy it, you are stuck with it as a paperweight. I mistakenly thought they were a good company that would stand behind their products, or at least have a way to find out what's wrong with the faulty ones.
Summary: wonderful product. excellent at receiving satellites. even received them in my living room. be sure to download basecamp from Garmin. The ability to import tracks to Google earth is fantastic. I used it on several cruises and the track on earth was great.
Summary: I got this for my husband because our old GPS was outdated and junky. This one has been used a bunch of times and he loves it. It maps out planned routes and keeps track of routes we've gone on. The add-on maps you need to download are a bit pricey, but worth it if you use this stuff a lot.
Summary: I use this thing pretty often still. I would say there is probably a few newer/better interfaces out there, but i really like this one. It does everything I need and more. I went on a international sailing trip last year and didn't realize it but i could look at the tides with the GPS. Really durable. Long battery life (even with rechargeable batteries.) It floats. Does everything i need it to.
Garmin products & support are and always have been great.

Summary: The Garmn GPSMAP 76 CX handheld GPS is great for the price. I Purchased a Garmin GPS 76 in 2001 and loved it. The black & white display brcame dim from exposure to the UV over 11 yrs. so I ordered the GPSMAP 76 CX. Its easy to see, the color is great and I added the Bluechart 2 for navigation with my bay boat that does not have a dept finder. I couldn't ask for nicer support that Garmin has provided for the serveral products of theirs I own.
Summary: This unit locks in good with little wait, has many features .easy to use for most things, but the screen is very small and is hard to use in a moving boat or car.seems ok for hiking or use on foot.the reason i bought it i have a blue chart i can use in it.the display should have a higher pixel count ,when zooming in it gets blockey [you can see the blocks well]but you get alot for the$ compared to other unit with these features.
Summary: This is a great handheld GPS. My old Garmin 12 finally woreout after 15 years and I bought the 76 and it is as easy to operate and has so many more features. It uses half the batteries and has color. The only down side is it that it is a little larger, but that makes for a larger screen.
