Summary: This is my second GPSMAP 62. Love It. These units are great in the field and trounce my older eTrex and other Garmin hand-held units. One thing this one seems to do better than most is acquire under tree canopy which essential for my work. I routinely get 3 meter accuracy or better which is adequate for most users. The unit is extremely rugged and always performs well in all conditions giving me fast results even when I am in remote canyons and backwoods situation.
Summary: Very nice topo gps, has a nice color screen and easy to use, couldn't believe all the different apps and settings, will be giving it the ultimate test on a military compass course, very nice gps, very happy with purchase
Summary: I did not realize it cannot take SD cards. I sent it back and got a GPSmap 62st instead. Much better unit. More map choices. The 62 is just a very basic GPS and if you are into serious hiking or geocaching go with the more expensive unit.
Summary: The unit is very accurate, but it is difficult to learn how to use. Had to resort to using YouTube to find ways to use the functions. The manual and user interface are cumbersome to say the least. I use the unit to track the hikes I do. There are many smartphone apps that are MUCH easier to use for this, but they tend to drain the phone battery quickly, and aren't nearly as accurate as this unit.
