Garmin GPSMap 60CSx

RobinSeattle, Rate it all!
28 November 2008
  • Summary: This was revolutionary 3-4 years ago, but with new handheld devices like the iPhone, etc showing how a handheld interface should work, this begins to feel ancient. + Great reception + Rugged (get a screen protector) + Reliable - Hard to remove memory card, which makes the next negative even worse. - For the US Topo Mapsource CD set, you can only can transfer 2026 of the 7000 US map segments per memory card.

60CSx

Overstock
15 November 2008
  • Summary: If you have lots of time to learn a fairly complex GPS unit then this one should be considered. It takes some time to navigate through the marginally user friendly features. It is not suitable as a daily driver aid because of the lengthy inputs. If you are into going places that are remote and you want to insure you can get back out then this will do the job.

Crippled by Proprietary Maps (=Garmin Greed)

Charles, Amazon
14 May 2007
  • Summary: The restriction that Garmin places on the file format for maps is crippling for the consumer. This is simply greed on their part. They create a captive market and exploit it as much as they can. Why should we have to pay nearly $500 (GPS + Garmin map files) to be exploited? The quality of the Garmin Mapsource maps is mediocre at best, and since there is zero competition it will stay that way.

Lot's of bells and whistles, but Magellan's Explorist series tracks better...

Amazon Customer "tominjax", Amazon
29 December 2006
  • Summary: About 9 months ago, I discovered the sport of Geocaching. I started out with a Magellan Explorist 200, and was amazed at how well a small device could track your position and find remote locations. Soon I was ready to move up to a more sophisticated GPSr with connectivity to my computer to load the waypoints, etc. A fellow geocacher recommended the Garmin GPSMap 60CSx as one of the best available - so I ordered one in April 2006.

Great unit once it is setup

Stuffman, Amazon
5 September 2006
  • Summary: I would have given it 3.5 stars but it was not an option. I only give it 3.5 stars because of the poor software and useless base maps. The unit itself is a nice unit. I have had the 60CSx for about a few weeks now. There was a learning curve at first but now I have it setup to my preference it is a pretty nice unit. It took a week to get use to how the unit functions. After that it was pretty simple to use and navigate through the GPS functions.

Good but software issues

Tom S "on the move", Amazon
22 August 2007
  • Summary: I bought one of these units in Canada at the start of 2006 when they first came out. I've used it extensively in the last year as I work as an geologist and have logged over 10,000 km of tracks in N America plus Europe but mostly in Mongolia where I consider my GPS to be 'mission critical'. I've been using GPS units since 1993 and have gone through Garmin 12XL, 12CX, 48, etrex, 176c, 176, and 76 units.

Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx

bad_nigga, price.ua
5 June 2012

Gutes Gerät mit Macken

th, Amazon
26 October 2010

  • Pros: Universell einsetzbar :  Wandern, Fliegen, Radfahren, Schwimmen?
  • Cons: teuer, undurchsichtig, nix für Anfänger
