Summary: I have the Garmin 178C which I like. I was told by factory it would hook up to my old cable and it doesn"t and the screen is not as big as my 178C and it is small. I was very disappointed in screen size. I would send this back if any way possible ! do you have any ideas you could help me with on how to get rid of this thing.
Summary: I have had my Garmin 440s for 4 years. Decided to update my maps for my boat/fishfinder. All I need is new marine maps. Why can't I just go onto the website and type in the name of my device and see what updates are available? After 20 minutes of hunting around, with no help, I decided to just click on one of the fancy software updates they were advertising. Got a big ad for all the fancy new things i can do with this, all of which I don't need.
Summary: I wish I bought the 541s but this unit works great much better than my buddies other brand GPS. I have used in an area that needs very accurate readings and the Garmin got me right out into the ocean. BIGGER screen would be better.
Summary: Purchased downloadable Map upgrade that wouldn't load. Asked Garmin for the disc and said no, if I wanted the disc I'd have to buy another upgrade and request it. Garmin was no help resolving software issue. Navigation feature doesn't follow marine channels and waterways when inputing "navigate to" it goes straight across land, roads etc, point to point. Not worth the money or the support Garmin gives for it.
Summary: Took us from T93 in Martin, Ga to Nami Bistro at Portman Shoals In Anderson,SC about a 75 minute ride) and brought us back home on the first use. I trusted it and it did what it is supposed to do. Pretty user friendly and seems to use about 20 mph as a default for eta.
