Summary: This Garmin replaced an older Garmin that had an attached wrist strap that broke. Like that this band is replaceable. More convenient to use and has more options than the older model. Just received it Saturday for my birthday and used it Sunday to monitor a 5K race. Very happy with the new Garmin.
Summary: Since my 305 broke recently, i thought i'd buy the 310XT. It's waterproof and has some additional features. So i thought it would be an ideal replacement. The first problem i had was that it would give inaccurate speed readings. Like 38MPG when the fastest i can pedal is about 15MPH.
Summary: My brother cycles a lot and recommended this. Negatives Big Not sure I would trust in water Does not have an auto power down function. Positives You can set it up with your ANT USB / STRAVA / Garman connect, so just leave it near your computer for 30 seconds and it upload (no cords!
If you like the Forerunner 305, replace the battery and forget the 310xt.

Summary: I bought the 310 replace my Forerunner 305. I only use it for running, not cycling or swimming. If you are used to the last generation forerunner watches then you will find the 310 very similar in operation. They did change with the way the watch fits on your wrist, not for the better.

Summary: I was honestly really excited to buy this watch. I was watching a running lecture on youtube by Micheal Arnstein (elite ultra marathon runner) and he recommended this watch. Now, I've been doing my research on gps watches so I didn't just go out and buy this blindly.
complicated to operate, but great product when i learn the features.

Summary: I purchased it because I walk and need to time and see my progress, but find it complicated to operate. Still trying to learn the options. I am not technically inclined. it has great features.
It is easy to use and the battery life is excellent

Summary: I have had my 310XT for over a year, using it at least three times per week. It is easy to use and the battery life is excellent, especially when I compare it to my older GPSs (a 305 and a Polar). I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because it can be somewhat squirrelly.
Summary: Best kept secret in Garmin GPS enable computers. Have used the 500 and 705 for cycle training and racing. Wanted something for running in the off season. Works great for running but found it easily replaces the 500 on bike with 4 data screens including power for half the price.
