Photo of item is that of a Forerunner 205 - not the Foretrex 205

Summary: The features of this particular item number/seller are mis-represented as a Foretrex 205, but as you look at the item's photograph the word Forerunner is clearly visible. Garmin GPS FORETREX 205 Wrist Wearable Personal Navigator - 010-00361-00 THe two designs have very different purposes. The actual Foretrex models are for designed for self-location in a rural/rugged environemnt such as would require camping gear, hiking boots, etc...
Summary: I had the 201 for a while, and love it; but I lost the charger, so I thought this would be a good time to upgrade, and get better reception in the trees. In my limited trials, it delivers as promised, and I have never lost signal. It is a great device except... I received the 205 and charged it up; then went through the set-up, and lost power a few times.

Excerpt: I bought this device as a tool for training mainly on trails. On power up, the 205 picks up a signal and location within a few seconds. In clear conditions the device performed well giving accurate pace and distance data. However under full or marginal cover from trees the pace information was way off (e.g. often reading 10mins/mile following a previous clear reading of 7mins/mile).
Summary: The Forerunner 205 is touted in the sales literature as an upgrade from the 201. Specifically it is supposed to have a superior GPS chipset as well as a better design. Unfortunately, this "update" falls well short of the intended goal. I own the Forerunner 201, as do a number of my friends. THAT unit has been very dependable and accurate.
Summary: The accessory let is a piece of moulded plastic and 2 cable clips. To use as described you also need an alternative watch strap( not included) The theory is that it's an alternative to having a separate bike computer if you already have a garmin. My recommendation would be to buy a good cycle computer around the price of this accessory kit!
