Summary: Bought this product a few months ago for hiking and biking. I've been out several times in the past few weeks with it. When it works properly it's a nice unit to measure distance, pace, elavtion, navigation and training tool. However it rarely held the GPS signal. Some times starting out it would have great signal and 10 mins. into hike you would lose it. Sometimes it would come back but most of the time it wouldn't.
Summary: Brought one of these in June 2005. For the first few months worked really well, did loose the signal in wooded areas etc. but generally speaking was good. At the beginning of Mar 2006 the reciever just stopped working, since then have been trying to get in contact with Garmin, sent several e-mails to the customer support (a complete misnomer) with no replies.
Summary: This could have been brilliant, but the whole point of such a GPS device (aimed at sports people, for their training sessions) is completely undermined if the receiver isn't up to scratch and the underlying software isn't clever. Put simply, it suffers badly from having a very poor GPS receiver, exacerbated by mediocre software. It is easily confused by the merest hint of tree coverings or high buildings and has poor acquisition and re-acquisition times.
