Summary: This handheld unit is great! I upgraded from the Cx model to this HCx when the last one died. I liked the old one so much, I wanted to get something as close to it as possible. This one picks up much faster and stronger than the old one.
Summary: I bought this about 4 years ago for geocaching and it still works great. My son was 10 when I got it for him, so it is very easy to use. I did need to purchase some maps from Garmin which was an additional cost, but well worth it.
Summary: I replaced an "ancient" eTrex Legend with this model and couldn't be happier. MUCH better sensitivity, USB vs RS-232 link, supports newest Garmin maps, fits my original eTrex Legend bike mount. If you can still find one (it is, sadly, discontinued by Garmin, grrr), snap it up.
Summary: Have been using this here in the NW since I purchased it. It's very easy to use, nice large, clear screen. Have used it all over the NW in areas that I hunt/backpack. Even in full canopy cover I have never had an issue with getting full satellite signals.
Summary: I bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday and he just loves it. He's a real gadget guy anyway and he's really enjoying all the great features that this GPS offers. It's a great portable GPS, especially for the price. I would highly reccomend this product.
Summary: This thing is Amazing. Perfect size, simple to use and very economical. I got it for $100.00 Add a 4gb Micro SD Card and download free maps (Road and Topo), and you have a fine Adventure GPS. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY GARMIN MAPS.
Excerpt: Great GPS! Have used this on many many occasions. Plotted a 35 mile kayak trip down river with help of software and internet with relative ease. Tracked progress and trails for off-road park in NH.
Here's a 4GB micro card that works with Legend CX & HCX

Summary: I have the Legend CX which is great, the same as the HCX except the CX does not have the highgrade receiver (less sensitive than the HCX). By the way the CX has slightly longer battery life than the HCX, but the HCX is very good on batts too.
Summary: I bought this unit to replace an older eTrex Legend model that I mount on my bicycle handle bar. As noted by other reviewers the HCx unit has enhanced sensitivity and very long battery life. My rechargeable AA's last at least 5 times longer than in the old unit.
