Features

The Garmin DC 40 Astro is a high sensitivity GPS-enabled dog tracking system for sporting dogs. It pinpoints a dog’s position and shows users exactly where they are. It features a color-screen and is designed with a orange polyurethane DC 40 collar, and eliminates the need to put two separate collars on a dog. The collar has a Collar Lock which is a four-digit PIN number that helps prevent others from seeing a dog’s whereabouts. The collar also features a Dog Tracker page that lets users view a compass pointing to the dog’s location as well as his current status: whether he’s running, sitting, on point or treeing quarry; an alarm which lets them know instantly when the dog goes on point; a high-sensitivity GPS receiver that can track the dog’s position even in the densest cover (up to ten dogs can be tracked at one time with Astro, at a distance of up to seven miles away (depending on terrain)); Astro’s Covey Counter™ which is a special waypoint that tells users the exact location, time of day and elevation where a prey is found, as well as the number of birds flushed and taken from that location; ability to save other special waypoints, such as “Truck” and “Lodge”; as well as waypoint icons to represent food plots, tree stands and other hunting-related points. It also has a barometric altimeter, electronic compass, microSD™ card slot, celestial information, area calculator; rugged, IPX7 waterproof exterior; optional detailed city street maps, over 6 million points of interest and ability to create a route on roads with exact turn-by-turn directions.
