Summary: I bought this as a present for someone who enjoys hiking. When he tried to use the base map that comes with it, he found the detail was just not good enough for hiking. Summary: I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she loves it and particularly likes the touch screen, rather than the joystick on other Garmins. We have been geocachers for over eight years but have only ever had one GPSr between us. Now, with two arrows, we can find geocaches more easily. Althought this is a cheaper model, some of the features are better than my expensive Garmin Oregon, particularly the details displayed when showing a list of geocaches.
Summary: A very well designed instrument, comfortable to hold with a lot of useful features. Accesses satellites quickly, even from inside the house, in contrast to our old Magellan GPS 315, which was slower and now won't even initialize. My only criticism of the thing is its fragile screen, which may be the way all are now built.
Summary: I have to add I trust Garmin as I have used several products over the years! But this is compact, light weight and easy to use. Especially by my young children, a must for any family, well worth the in expense!
