Good unit despite being discontinued by garmin

soloimation, Ebay
1 October 2011
  • Summary: At first I thought I liked my Etrex vista better. A year later I realize the Colorado is a way better unit to use in the mountains. Screen is way easier to read. UI is way better. Colorado goes thru two AA batterios in one day unlike the vista that can last for days on a set of batteries, but have gotten used to that. I use my unit for Forestry/Survey work and the interface with the waypoints works better than the vista or older garmin mapping models.

Colorado 300

lauri7111111, Ebay
10 July 2009
  • Summary: I'm not very happy. And why ? First, there is no way hide different icons. For example with Geocaching, why there is not option don't show found caches ? And sometimes picture is like rainbow. At least in new software is possibility to see all waypoints in list, when they are in exactly same point and You move to this point with cursor. Second, if You move with cursor then map always turns itself (when using mode Track Up). You can't put your POI's in several file.

not bad + not great=meh

  • Summary: First off let me preface this by saying i'm not a world class Geocacher. to date i've found about 57, about 9 of which are Micro size. i started off using a Garmin E-Trex Venture HC about a year ago and logged a good amount of caches. a few weeks ago i got my tax refund (who needs to pay off car loans when you can get more gadgets!) and did some research. it came down to the Colorado 300 and the Delorme PN-40.

The Rock'n'Roller wheel is just another gadget that…

Trailspace.com
4 June 2008
  • Excerpt: The Rock'n'Roller wheel is just another gadget that will likely break or something. The fact you can only display one route at a time is horrible in on itself especially for this price. It also eats through batteries. This GPS seems geared towards geocachers, so if you are using it for that, enjoy. As for hikers and the sorts I don't recommend. Unless you download the beta firmware update you cannot reposition waypoints such as the 60CSx can.

Good Unit But...

Cheryl McMurray, Amazon
31 January 2008
  • Summary: I have used this GPS on hikes with navigational requirements and just general testing. These are my conclusions after a few calls to Garmin Support and searching GPS forums. The good news is that it is well constructed, has many features. If you buy the city, topo, and marine mapping, you can probably do it all. It has a fairly basic ease of operation (after you get the settings customized).

Good but I miss my old GPS60CSx

Christopher J. Rose, Amazon
14 June 2008
  • Summary: Having lost my GPS60CSx in France earlier this year I decided on the Colorado as a replacement. I took this unit to Everest Base Camp and loaded it with the relevanty TOPO maps. I found that I needed several sets of batteries a day with each set lasting around three hours which meant that tracking was an expensive luxury. Also the unit would switch off for no reason. Whilst I like the large display it is dim unless you ramp up the backlight which drains the batteries.

Garmin Colorado 300: Equipo de navegación

jsmales_91, Ciao
17 July 2008

skynetromi, Ciao
2 June 2006
  • Cons: Página web nefasta y servicio post venta peor
