Works as advertised

Urtica, Amazon
10 May 2014
  • Summary: Not much to say. Sends out a signal that my GPS picks up. Easy enough to program. I have it stuck to the back of my review mirror announcing that my car is a travel bug. (Put a TB sticker on it a few months ago and nobody has logged it yet so I though I would try the Chirp to advertise it.) Will update when I learn how long the battery really does last.

Did not work.

Stephen H Irving, Amazon
29 November 2013
  • Summary: Could not figure out how to get this product to work. I tried garmin.com's site, I tried the iPhone app. Ended up waiting my money and time for something that either does not work or is too hard to get working. Oh well. Neat idea. Fail.

Garmin Chirp

Amazon Customer, Amazon
26 August 2013
  • Summary: I am just getting into Geocaching and stumbled on the "Chirp" via Garmin's web site and my Montana 650T device. When I set the Chirp up and went to my first cache, it made a "chirp" sound on my GPS a half mile prior to the cache site to alert me I was getting close. I found the cache and logged my entry. Between the GPS and the chirp you can be a more successful Geocacher.

Novel Geocachaing Device

M. Hockett, Amazon
24 June 2013
  • Summary: The chirp works as advertised, except that under typical conditions its range is shorter that specified. The "chirp" sound would be more effective, if the Garmin GPS devices had a louder audio alert beep.

Great for creating a unique geocache

Martin Wood, Amazon
7 June 2013
  • Summary: This little unit met and surpassed my expectations. It works as advertised. I'm using it in a multi stage geocache setup. As people get close to the beacon, it transmits the location data and hint or note to a respective GPSr unit. Great fun! I would highly recommend this unit to other geocachers who are interested in placing a unique and interesting fun geocache.

Coulda been great.

BLR, Amazon
30 April 2013
  • Summary: Garmin could have sold a b'zillion of these had they NOT made them proprietary to only a few Garmin GPS devices. IPhone and Android compatible Chirps would have made Garmin the most visible brand name in GPS devices. Instead they chose to use it to try and sell more Garmin GPS receivers. Why, when my Android gps app with superior and free updatable Google maps works fine?

Needs better description in advertisement.

Scooter1968 "Scooter", Amazon
20 April 2013
  • Summary: I purchased and then immediately returned it by the grace of Amazon because I guess that it's not normally accepted as a return - SO CHECK THE RETURN POLICY BEFORE YOU PURCHASE BECAUSE AMAZON MADE AN EXCEPTION FOR ME and accepted my return but they said that it's not usually accepted once you purchase it. I purchased the product because, stupid me, I expected it to work with my Nuvi GPS system, which it does not do.
