Summary: Please be advised you DO NOT RECEIVE GPS UNIT WITH COLLAR. I was greatly disappointed with this product as I was very excited. Come to find out, the GPS unit is $500 more !! When I attempted to contact the seller, they were of no assistance. I promptly returned the product.
Summary: I use this unit to track my terrier when she is varmit hunting. In heavy brush or hill terain it will work 1-1.5 miles. On my trips to more open country in Utah and Montana, it will work up to 3-3.5 miles. I have been very pleased with the unit, but as a few others have said, the menus could be more user friendly. Battery life on the 220 unit is 10-12 hours. I have recommended this unit to other people.
Summary: I have the Astro 220 and 3 DC-30 collars. I bought the first 2 collars March, 2010 and so they have been working 24/7/365 for almost 4 years now. A year later I bought a 3rd DC-30 ! Now when I got a new dog and needed another collar, the DC-30 has been replaced by the DC-40. I can't give it 5 stars yet because it is so new to me that it feels oddball and it didn't come with any owner's manual. It works slightly differently than the DC-30.
Summary: Quick delivery! Easy to use! Best tracking collar I have bought to date! Gets good signal in thick brushy area up and down small mountains ! Shows me where my dog is at at all time! Pleasure doing business with thank you.
Summary: We hike quite a bit with our two dogs, and because the one has a tendency to go off on her own, we have had some pretty scary moments when we thought we lost her. We purchased the DC 30 about two years ago and what a peace of mind it is knowing that even though you don't see your dog, you can track her on the Garmin. Plus you can keep track how far she traveled that day (our little one does easily around 4.5 miles).
