Summary: I bought this for my wifes birthday and she loves it. The only problem with it was one side of band broke. She emailed amazon and they shipped a new watch overnight with a return box to return the broken one. No problems after that amazing how it improved her short game with accurate readings to the green. She also likes the function that tells how far you walk on the course.
Summary: My wife always asks "What's my yardage?" Even though she has a rangefinder. She saw one of these and asked for a birthday present - i thought it was a good idea because it will liberate me! We got it last night and tried it out. Now I need one! What a great product! Easy to use, well thought out, this watch will change how we play golf. We will know exactly how far we are from the pin at all times which will make club selection much easier.
Summary: I gave this Garmin Approach S3 GPS Golf Watch, to my husband for his birthday in Aug.2013 and he has used it 1/2 dozen times so far and he loves it!!! I would recommend the purchase to a friend.
Summary: This is my third Golf GPS and is by far the best. The watch format keeps the GPS with you at all times. The downside is that the battery life is not infinite but neither am I. I don't understand all of the complaints in the review section. Like most electronic devices there are periodic updates to resolve issues that have come up. When you first get your S3 you should connect it to your computer to get the current software updates and latest course maps.
Summary: I was using the Approach 5 but it slowed me down, having to change screens and take it to the ball on par 3's and during cart path only days. I left the Approach at the Tee Box more than once and left it in the cart after golf a time or two. The S3 is strapped to my body and is always available to give distances to the front, middle and back of the green. It has simplified and sped up my game. I love this thing.
Summary: The Garmin S3 Approach is a great device for a more advanced golfer, I am a beginner so the S3 was a little over the top. I returned for the Garmin S1, my in-law has the S1 and it was more in line with what I needed on the course, the front and back of the course.
