Excerpt: I received this one day and played my first round with it the next. I was a little concerned about the reviews of it being hard to charge. If you can't get this thing to charge, you probably don't have the know how to use it, therefore don't get it. You can't "dumb it down" anymore than Garmin has. The charging device is quite unique looking but the design is quite simple and easy to use.
Excerpt: I've used the S1 for 4 or 5 rounds now and absolutely love it. Very easy to use (for a non-tech individual) and it is a huge confidence builder knowing exact back/center/front distances to green when selecting clubs, especially from within 100yd range. I've played (walked) 27 holes from 9am - 5pm and battery wasn't an issue. I've always been sure to fully recharge before each day so no issues there.
Excerpt: I was blinded in my left eye after an accident a few years ago. Since then, I always had great difficulty judging distances. I purchased my S1 Approach watch at the begiining of last season. It was like a miracle. Instead of guessing or trying to locate yardage markers, I glance at my S1 & it gives me my PRECISE yardage to the front, middle or back. Even fom 100 yds. in, it nails it. I know exactly whether to use a gap or lob wedge. I have total confidence in this watch.
Summary: I switched from a hand-held gps rangefinder to the Garmin S1 this year. This is the basic GPS that shows distance to the front, middle and back of the green. No fancy bells and whistles but as an amateur, who needs them? Great addition to my game, and best of all, it speeds up play. No more fussing with "shooting" the pin or carrying your rangefinder to the ball. Just look at your wrist and there it is; immediate distance to the green. Love this toy!
Excerpt: Got this for Christmas and have used it twice. Distances were within 1 or 2 yards of my buddy's laser distance finder. Easy to navigate through the options. So convenient to have yardage available to you at any moment with almost no effort. My pace of play is definitely better with this.
