Summary: Great durable product. Doesnt have always updated courses. Have found 3 in my area (central NY) in which it has old maps of the course... Other than that great device. Suggest rechargable batteries, it checks through batteries.
... had the G5 for over two years and absolutely love it. The screen is fine

Summary: I have had the G5 for over two years and absolutely love it. The screen is fine, it is water resistant for those rainy days, you can move the flag to get better yardage and the list goes on and on. I am writing this to address two items that keep showing up in the reviews.
I have not been at all pleased with this Garmin device--- it looks fine indoors

Summary: I have not been at all pleased with this Garmin device--- it looks fine indoors, but it is bulky and only runs on batteries--which the battery life of mine is VERY poor. Also, very hard to see the screen outside.
Summary: The garmin golf GPS works well, it doesn't take long for the GPS to find your location. The features are very helpful, such as the one that tracks the distanses for your different irons/woods. The only draw back is the battery life
Summary: I've been using this now for about two years and have no negative issues. I keep a couple of spare rechargeable batteries in my bag at all times but normally get about two full rounds per usage. Highly recommend, especially at the discounted cost now.
Summary: Well, I have had this for two years. I am not a fanatic at placing reviews about my purchases but thought this unit may prove to more challenging than others I've read about. This constant complaint about it being dark and hard to read is bogus.
Summary: bought to replace old Callaway because of thier dropping support. Oh what a mistake, my wifes Golf Buddy is so much better it is not even close. I had early sky Caddie and did not like the course loading deal but the unit was much better then this.
Accuracy is good. Screen is a bit dim in the shade but bright in the sun

Summary: I really like the fact that all courses are pre-loaded and available w/o having to download them. Also, course data updates are available for free should you feel the need. I hated the subscription model that Sky Caddy forces. Sky Caddy can also only hold 10 courses at a time... very inconvenient.
Summary: Main problem was trying to read the screen on a sunny day. Too small of a screen. Found myself just looking and using the standard yard markers and leaving the Garmin in my pocket. Hassle for sure. Worked fine if your were sitting on the couch, and could read and use the functions.
Summary: I have used a Sky Caddie 2.5 for 4 years and had been thinking about a Garmin for several months (no yearly fees!) After "test driving" a friend's Garmin Approach 5 I was hooked. I chose the G3 after much debate and ... I LOVE it!
