Excerpt: The Garmin Approach G3 is what you would expect but does not blow you away. The best feature on the device is measuring your shot either from tee box to fairway or fairway to green. The device seems to be accurate but small and not easy to use.
Excerpt: This GPS was good but had its troubles. First, it had trouble finding you location on Earth. It could not find the courses I play at if it was not my home course. Also, the battery life was dreadful. If I made it through two rounds it was a miracle.
Excerpt: I bought this G3 unit from the Golfsmith store in Palm Desert on 7/09/2011. I waited a week to get back home in Northern California before I set it up and used it. It was easy enough to do and worked fine for about 4 rounds. Then when I turned it on, I could not turn it off.
Excerpt: I have this product and do like all the features very much once I get it located , but it does not wake up at the location I am at when turned on. It always wakes up with a "No GPS Signal" message and I have to manually search for the course.
Summary: Had this for a while now (8 months) but have experienced problems with rechargeable batteries. Normal NiMh (2400 mAh) rechargeable batteries only last one round of golf or 1½ rounds. So, on the advice of a friend, I bought some 2900 mAh rechargeable batteries.
Summary: Screen not as good as i expected in daylight and the screen is quite small . in sunlight it is difficult to read. batteries last 2 rounds before warning and low screen lighting . consider rechargables.
