  • Summary: I have owned one of these since December 2009, and it has served me extremely well as a source of XM-Satellite Weather until this issue emerged. Since the latest firmware update (August 2013), the unit will randomly freeze and then not boot anymore (getting stuck on the initial boot splash screen...

Great unit. Love it!

Peter M Depew, Amazon

  • Summary: The 510 is easy to use and quick to pick up the Sats. I like the dash mount that comes with it, as it stays in place both on the car dash and aircraft dash. Changes from one to the other in seconds. Easy to enter airport identifiers. Towers, windmills and other things to avoid stand out clearly.

Garmin aera 510

  • Summary: I absolutely love this gps. We use is as a yoke mounted backup gps in the plane and can easily take it with us once we land to use in the car. It is very easy to use. When flying, it will verbally alert you to obstacles in the area such as cell towers, etc. It is a great gps.

Great touch-screen GPS

  • Summary: Using this on my Cessna yoke as a back-up GPS. Has current terrain DB/warning which the plane GPS doesn't have. I used it to replace a Garmin 295. I also have a Samsung 10.1 tablet with 32GB storage and wifi and Droid3 phone (both from Verizon) loaded with aviation maps similar to an iPad.

  • Summary: Bought this item as an upgrade from our Garmin 196. Really wanted the weather feature. LOVE IT! Great screen size and contrast; easy to use. Has helped us avoid storms and better plan our trips. Even have gotten last minute TFR information on it. Highly recommend.

Not bad, could be better

  • Summary: I have owned numerous Garmin GPS units and was excited to try an aviation version of their product. Aviation: The aviation part is okay. You can search for the closest airport but there is no direct to button. Weather: This is a nice feature, though not a cheap monthly payment.
