Summary: GPS - I used the GPS for vacation this past week - it kept shutting off after 3hrs in use. ( the screen would go black) I had to go to the nearest Walmart and purchase a brand new one. I didn't contact seller because I would then need to pay s/h to send it back.
Summary: I bought clarion ezd580 to replace an old Magellan GPS. First I like the price, second I like the bluetooth for hand free talking, and third I like the 3d maps. Now what I do not like. The sun will wash out the screen a little. You can still see it, need a glare screen. The next thing was old maps. The one I got came with 2007 maps, but thanks to ebay I found the 2010 maps for a lot less than what other gps wanted for there updated map.
Summary: pros... mp3 with good sound and fair equalizer good looking unit cons... everything else washed out screen clunky interface slow, slow, slow slow tracking slow loading slow, slow, slow finally... dang thing almost killed me, due to its amazingly sorry gps function.
Summary: I adore this unit. Received through my cousin in BC, Canada. Have packed it with me and travelled all over North America with it (even out to Newfoundland!!). I've packed it to bring on the plane and then use at my destination in the rental car (instead of paying extra to have GPS rental as part of the car contract). Great little work horse! My only question is now that I've had it 2 years, is there somewhere I can download updated map information for it??
Summary: Absolutely Perfect. My reason for the purchase is because I have a vehicle which has a digital speedometer which has been going bad and I sometimes have no way of accurately knowing how fast I was going. Instead of replacing the whole unit at a very tedius job and very expensive job I sought a quality GPS. Within a day of searching I purchased the Item above for a fourth of the retail cost and a 20th of the cost to repair the speedometer.
Lots of features for the price, but maps are outdated.

Summary: The Clarion EZD580 has some nice features that are normally only found on much more expensive models. It runs the popular iGo 8.0 navigation software which has a lot of configuration options and is very easy to use. The widescreen format works great for iGo which has an information bar on the left side. The pre-loaded maps are quite outdated (2007) and new maps will cost you $50 if you obtain them legally.
