Summary: It's pretty easy to use and a fun idea, and does what it says it does. But the user guides and software are pathetic. Ultimately, trying to import the tracks I recorded failed miserably, even after I uninstalled and reinstalled the software repeatedly, and the memory got erased. The help function is useless. I got an error message from the beginning saying initialization failed, and there was no guidance anywhere about it. The user interface is very primitive.
Summary: This is the second model that I have tried. First, the yardage/mileage is right on. I tested it on a measured 100yard range. Now for the sad part. The compass, even after several figure 8's to calibrate, seemed to want to point east rather than north. The backtrack to a marked location worked sometimes, but sometimes it was off by 90 to 180 degrees. Totally unreliable. I tried to contact Bushnell customer service by their E Mail address, but they never answered.
Summary: It probably works OK for the applications they're obviously pushing -- hikes in the woods, fishing trips in the back country, etc. But it's no good at all around cars, buildings, metal objects, etc. The GPS reading for the distance back to your starting location is accurate, but the arrow (even with lots of "calibration") is just as likely to send you off in the wrong direction as head you back to where you're trying to go.
Summary: If you want accuracy....not the best item to buy. Many times it takes 20 or more minutes to get satelite readings. And changing batteries is a pain as the back is not too easy to remove. I guess for the money it's ok......but for the serious hunter spend the extra money and go Garmin or Magellen.
Summary: This thing will get you killed if you get lost easily. When it would finally track down a satellite the compass would not hold north. First pointed NE, a minute later NW and than due west. Did not matter what we did, could not find north. Most of the time we would turn on the unit in a large open area and it could not find a satellite. I would give this zero stars if I could.
Summary: I bought this for a camping/on-the-road trip for my Fiancee and I. I tested it when i got it by marking my house, and walking to my mailbox. It worked for what it needed it. My only complaint is that you have to hold it flat/parallel with the ground. I guess this goes with being a compass based item. If you don't the arrow just points in random directions. That, and the fact that it takes a very long time for it to initially get it's connection.
