Backtrack Review

Larry E. Haines, Amazon
3 September 2012
  • Summary: I purchased the Backtrack from Amazon, mainly to help me navigate a local lake. It is quite large (over 950 miles of shoreline)and easy to get lost if you don't know it that well. As soon as I got the Backtrack, I went to the lake and marked the Marina.

Gets you there but fun stuff downloads at home

Kay Harrisonburg, VA, Amazon
25 August 2012
  • Summary: Provides the path that you walked, the speed, distance, and elevation when you hook it up to your computer using the downloaded software. However, one complaint would be that you have to wait until you get back to your computer to see the path that you traveled, it only shows an arrow pointing you...

the altitude function and the warranty repair policy are garbage

pba, Amazon
24 August 2012
  • Summary: we bought this for use in golf course rating at the recommendation of the USGA. The main function we needed was the altitude measurement, since one part of the rating requires measurement of the altitude change on each hole and during the path of that hole.

Small, simple, and functional

Richard W. Wright, B&H Photo
23 August 2012
  • Excerpt: I purchased the Back-Track D-TOUR to record photo locations. It does that very well and has the added feature of pointing me back to my car or hotel when I realize that I have lost track of time. The recording can be stopped and restarted at a later time or a new location.
  • Pros: Compact, Lightweight, Waterproof
  • Cons: Proprietary file format

Does what it claims.

W. Lambert "Hiker", Amazon
13 August 2012
  • Summary: This is a great product. I had to get used to it not being a full GPS. It is a backtracker. I record where my car is and maybe a couple other locations and it takes me back. Easy to use and learn.

Dad enjoys it.

Denise, Amazon
30 July 2012
  • Summary: This is something that my father wanted for Father's Day. It took a little longer to get here than I expected, but he really seems to enjoy it. The great part is that he had suggested that I go on EBay to get it but the price was much more reasonable on Amazon. Thanks.

pretty good

Sol, Amazon
10 July 2012
  • Summary: took the gps to rome and it worked , as the directions and narrow streets are hard to navigate at night . it was easy to walk back to the hotel and any location to visit again was locked and breeze to visit the next day .
