24 September 2010
  • Pros: can be portable or docked with IVA-W205
  • Cons: Mapping frequently wrong, no mapping updates, software full of glitches where pages lock up, display fails to fully refresh which leaves remnants of last function on screen. Alpine and NAVTEQ do not support this product.

"No map updates available."

mugendude, CNET

  • Pros: It has bluetooth and does pair with my phone quickly. That's about it. Other than it turns on and works 95% of the time.
  • Cons: Full of irritating glitches. No map updates. It came with three year old map and is now 4 years out of date.

  • Summary: I have this docked in my iva w205 and it works great. The turn by turn voice guide works like a charm. It also works good as a stand alone gps system.

Convenient when used with IVA-W205

robert_riley, Ebay
3 January 2010
  • Summary: If you already own an Alpine IVA-W205, adding a Blackbird is nice because it eliminates the need to hang external GPS's from your windshield. It takes a lot more effort using a Blackbird to get to a destination than when using a TomTom or Garmin. Many times I will try to enter in an address with the Blackbird and it just won't take. I tried typing in address for a store where the address was on Coral Way in Miami.

  • Pros: The W505 head unit is unreal, plays ipod, mp3, movies, wma, DVDS, ipod movies, you name it. The screen is clear for movies and also relays ipod album artwork.
  • Cons: Navigation freezes while docked in my w505 head unit. Alpine doesn't have an upgrade of their maps either so that doesn't help when you are trying to get somewhere. See below:

Alpine B200

14232, Ebay
3 June 2009
  • Summary: My alpine Blackbird B200 just quit working. I have NEVER dropped nor spilled anything onto it. I thought the rechargable battery needed to be replaced. So I bought an extra one. Well this unit is completely dead. So now I called Alpine, they will not warranty the unit if it is purchased on ebay. They will only warranty the product if it is purchased through reputable dealer. What a bunch of thief, This unit cost me $600.00 when it came out.
