Very good product, but not much better, than the top leading drivers.
9 July 2011
Summary: 1st I owned an R9 10.5(R), seemed long, but not that much better than my golf partners drivers. Next I purchased the R9 460 9.5(R), and a 2010 Burner Superfast 9.5(R). Both were longer but the Superfast seemed to be longest.
Summary: Taylor made is one of the top golf club manufactures. I have used their products for years. I am very satisified with the R9 driver. My only objection would be the use of Carls golfland. Their prices are higher than what I can buy it direct. I would never use them or recommend them.
Summary: I purchased an R9 8.5 degree driver after playing several rounds using my friends. The adjustment remained at neutral as I do not want to fix a driver issue and leave and iron problem. Actually, the problem I was having was ballooning drives.. The R9, specifically with the stock shaft and R-Flex made a huge difference.. Perhaps any 8.5 and similar shaft would have but the Taylormade products do setup well to my eye.
Summary: With this driver you have the ability to open or close the face of the club to either fade or draw the ball. The only drawback to this is the fact that you have to cary the wrench with you and its a little time consuming to make a change while on the golf course.
Summary: ANother great driver from TaylorMade. Easy to hit driver, and very reasonable on the wallet, as TaylorMade comes out with something new and better every few months! If you can't afford the Supertri, and don't need the MWT options, this is a good buy.
Summary: I hit a friends Supertri and smoked it by my 2009 Burner by about 30 yards each time so I purchased the exact same club on Ebay for a fraction of the retail price. I played around with it until I found the optimum setting for me. This was a 10.5 degree Fujikura Motore 60 R-Flex shaft. I hit the ball well and it appeared to be about 10 yards longer than my Burner on the range.
Summary: Actualy I got this item not for R9 head but for Project X shaft 6.0. Reviews of Project X driver shaft are well above average and all tells it is low to mid kick point. Testing the shaft with R9 and R9 Supertri proved Project X is a marvellous one for golfers with high swing speed. 6.0 flex seems to me is stronger than Stiff flex of other shafts, and a little bit harder than I want. The trajectory is low but penetrating without any sacrifice of distance.
Summary: The R9 with the stock Motore 65 shaft is a good combo...for me. Looks good and felt good from the first swing. It gives me a mid-high ball flight with decent roll in the neutral clubhead position with the weight positioned in the middle. I happen to hit it very straight at this setting (as you should). However, I do not get any added distance over my current driver. That seems to be the consensus with this driver from the few reviews I have read.
Summary: This club head is excellent for the adjust-ability, and the many shaft options available really make this a driver for everyone... Amateur and Pro alike. I have a Pro V2 set-up and the low angle, mid spin has added nearly 30 yards to my drives with a higher accuracy of hit fairways. Truly love this club!
