Summary: " Very happy with the Flymo 600 hedgetrimmer. Works very well and does go through some thick hedging. The only downside is that its very heavy, and with my hedge being 8 feet high in places, not recommended, and also it has a " start" switch on top of handle which is required to be pushed foward before machine will start, so only one hand left to hold machine and depress button on front of cutter. to start it up.
Summary: " I purchased a Flymo 600XT hedge cutter from you in July 2012 and after being used for about 5 times the machine would not switch off and the the blades then stopped working. this is the second machine I have purchased. The clutch on the first one broke after just over a year -- I assumed that this was my fault but after reading your reviews on this product I realise that it appears to be a commom problem.
Summary: " Sadly despite being a great design and being very easy to use it turned out to be short lived and a waste of money. I bought my first one in 2009 but approximately 13 months after purchase (1 month after the warranty ranout) it broke despite only periodic and relatively low duty usage. Like the other reviewers it sounded like the motor/clutch went.
Summary: " Bought this 4 years ago and used it 4 times. I won't be using it again this year as it no longer cuts but just glides over the ivy hedge. The blades seem to push the shoots out of the cutting area of the blades rather than cutting through them. Contacted Flymo who used their get out of jail free card and said sorry it's out of warranty. Very noisy and very heavy. Recommendation? - Buy something else.
Summary: " As per other users very poor machine. This is the response I received from Flymo which was not very helpful nor seemed concerned there may be a problem with this model: "Please note that the 6 year rule you are referring to is between yourself and your retailer under the Sale of Goods Act and not ourselves, the manufacturer.
Summary: " This is a poorly designed and short-lived product. When it works it is very heavy to hold for any length of time. The complex series of switches are designed so that two have to be depressed and the thumb slider engaged to switch on. Half of ones effort is wasted firmly squeezing the minimum of two of the handle located switches to keep the thing running.
Summary: " I've got through 3 of these in nearly 5 years. It's about the same price to buy a new machine than to have the blades replaced. The blades are vulnerable to damage, so only use it for light work. It's suitable for those who don't want the noise and fumes of a petrol hedge cutter, but don't expect it to last.
Summary: " My experience is in line with the other poor reviews on this product. I found it to be a good design that worked like a dream the first time. But the engine burnt out on third usage and at no time did I misuse the unit. I phoned a Flymo-recommended service centre to inquire about repairs. The technician informed me that this was "a throwaway item" for which there were no major spare parts. Never again! I'll go for a Bosch next time.
Summary: " I hate cutting the hedge but I have used this trimmer several times, we have around 40ft of privet hedge. The handles in different places are useful when cutting the top, side and bottom of the hedge. It is quite heavy to weild around but it has done a good job so far, we will have to wait and see if it suffers the same fate as the previous reviewer.
