Summary: The trimmer works well is light enough but struggles with thicker privet branches. Good deal for the money very quick on the lighter branches and will be fine once our hedge has been trimmed back more often having been left for many months to become very overgrown.
Summary: I got this to replace my old 45cm Black and Decker which died on me. I'd say this one is as good, if not better, for trimming. I also have a Bosch Pro with a 70 cm blade and wider teeth for the tougher cutting back. In comparison with that the smaller machine does seem less well balanced - the larger one has a better front grip which you can hold on the top, left side or right side, which allows you to 'lift upwards' easily when cutting up the front of a hedge.
Summary: Very impressed indeed with the performance of this hedge cutter. I've used many different types from petrol to cordless and electric, also many different brands and I would say this is the best. I find it's not too heavy and it's compact and balanced, the blade isn't too long. Reasonable length of lead but obviously an extension lead will be needed in most cases.
