Raven Software is probably the first developer to finally get the formula for a quality X-Men game correct. They are to be commended for their efforts and this goes in hoping their sequel Rise of Apocalypse will be even better than this game! The cel-shaded look that gives this game the comic book look it was intended for is jaw droppingly detailed in virtually every aspect possible. X-Men Legends' plot revolves around the X-Men's most oft fought enemy, Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants. The Brotherhood is up to no good and throughout the game, the X-Men fight the Brotherhood all the while trying to figure out what they are up to. But the overall plot is almost like an excuse for the rest of the game and not in a bad way. Just when you thought the Marvel-licensed games would die down after a slew of titles based on the recent deluge of motion pictures, an odd little title pops up from Raven Software and Activision. Like Treyarch's handling of the Spider-Man series, Raven Software has also done justice to Marvel's X-Men universe. Aside from some minor issues, the game overall is extremely fun and also features a great, though challenging, multiplayer mode. Read more

While not being a disaster, Legends can start grinding nerves because of its numerous flaws and oversights, which is a pity because working as a team from a gameplay perspective, especially in co-op, is an intuitive idea. Hopefully the next time will see an improvement in the way it is executed. Read more
