Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Despite its linearity, TMNT is a fun game which grips the player with its speed, ease of play and nimbleness. Fairly soon into the game and one even loses sight of the fact that they cannot deviate from the path. However, it is still worth considering what might have been - a Crackdown style world with Ninja Turtles abilities and co-op multiplayer? That would surely be worth a cowabunga or two.
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Turtles is a let down for fans of the cartoon and previous games. This is not a return to glory, rather a dribble of boring and repetitive gameplay. If you like licensed titles gone horribly awry then get Turtles, otherwise there are many better titles to play over Christmas.
Excerpt: I don't know about you, but I have fond memories of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Just typing those words brings that classic theme song to memory. I also recall being a big fan of the cartoon and arcade game. On the console side, the last Turtles game I remember playing was TMNT 4 on the Super Nintendo. The only downside about it was that it was very short.
Excerpt: Saturday morning cartoons were once a staple of every young child in the early nineties, and along with the cartoons came lunch boxes, straight to video movies, and more importantly, videogames. One such videogame following America’s favorite fighting turtles was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the Arcade Game. A hit in the arcade along with great sales on the console market brought more turtles to every kid’s living room.
Excerpt: I'm hip, I'm happening, and that's why I know that the Turtles are now officially back! Yes that's right those 80's icons are now well and truly popular once more. And as soon as the money men get even the slightest hint of this type of thing they act! A game is made, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be precise.
