One of the first games for the GameCube and the first game by Sega for it, Super Monkey Ball is unique to say the least. The name does serve a purpose at describing the game. Essentially, you guide one of five different monkeys, which are inside clear, colored balls, through several different mazes in order to unlock some of coolest mini-games on the planet and be top monkey. Sega’s Super Monkey Ball for Nintendo GameCube will keep you rolling! Tilt the stages just right and your monkey will zip down ramps, launch across a vast ocean, and maneuver through party games galore. Because they inhabit a transparent ball, the four versatile monkeys can act as a bowling ball (with pretty impressive spin), golf ball, and billiard ball. And the party doesn’t end there! Engage in a variety of competitive races in Monkey Race, boxing in Monkey Fight,... Read more
There's just something charming about a game in which you must roll monkeys around in balls to collect bananas and avoid falling off to your untimely demise. Maybe it's the simplicity of the concept, or maybe it's just that the execution is just so solid that you can't avoid but to like the game. In a word, Super Monkey Ball is fun. You are treated to a game in which there is a large variety of modes, including: three levels of the Main Game, a puzzle-like trip through a... Read more
When I first heard about Super Monkey Ball , I was looking forward to a couple of other high-profile GameCube titles, like Star Wars: Rogue Leader and Super Smash Bros. Melee . Super Monkey Ball had nearly slipped under my radar screen since the arcade game from which this game is ported never saw the light of day outside of Japan, and I knew very little about it. However, once the game came out here, Super Monkey Ball had garnered praise from more than a few GameCube... Read more
The madness has begun!! No, we're not referring to monkey madness; not just yet. We're talking about Sega's first official outing on a console other than their own in more than 15 years (Crazy Taxi doesn't count since it was just a port by Acclaim bearing the Sega property license). Read more
This has got to be the most boring game i have ever played. the levels are so unoriginal. roll a ball with a monkey in it to the end of a level collecting as many bananas as possible only to be dumped on an even worse level after. don't bover wasting your [or your mums]money on this. the only good thing is monkey racing a mini game where you race your friends along a race track.if it let you i would give this 0 stars. I discovered this game and it's sequel in a double pack last year and just recently got around to playing it. Super Monkey Ball is one of those games I play every once in a while but will squeeze every last ounce of enjoyment possible from it. It has my ideal game design. It's easy to learn and the fun/challenge comes from being able to complete levels on skill and experience. I think Sega could have put more effort into a memorable soundtrack as the one here is pretty... Read more
In this game the main idea is that you move and tip a board in oder to navigate you monkey (in a ball) around obstacles and maze like routes. Obviously made difficult by the slopes, holes, gaps to jump, chutes, and collecting bananas. The main game is ok but not the most fun to play. However the best part of the super monkey ball game is the mini games. There are a host of other mini games for you and your friends to play. From racing, tennis, bowling and fighting there...
