Summary: Why no Knuckles Chaotix?!?!?! Anyway, the three main games on this collection (SONIC CD, SONIC FIGHTERS and SONIC R) are definitely worth getting your hands on if you were/are a fan of the classic Sonic games from the 90's. SONIC CD is excellent and is the best game on here. It's not quite Sonic 2, but it's a little known classic. 8/10 SONIC FIGHTERS is a stripped down version of Virtua Fighters 2, but with characters for the Sonic universe.
Summary: Two words: FIFTY HERTZ. The absence of a 60Hz display option on Sonic Gems means it's lazy PAL conversion time again! Sega did a top quality job with the previous Sonic Mega Collection on the Gamecube, which makes it all the more annoying that they didn't bother to lavish the same attention to detail on this second makeweight collection. Serious gamers who must have Sonic CD will know what to do - get out your Freeloader and import this one!
Summary: With this installment, the Gamecube now plays host to virtually every Sonic game ever made. Still, this collection cannot help but feel like leftovers to the superlative Mega Collection. I'm disappointed with Sonic CD; despite some clever ideas, it feels messy and rushed. Sonic R is terrible to play and looks very dated. Sonic the Fighters brings back memories of playing it at the arcade and is quite good. The Gamegear games feel restrictive and frustrating.
