An Unpolished Gem

Shaunpm60, epinions.com
5 June 2006
  • Summary: If you're a Sonic fan, you'll basically get this game. If all you want to do is play Sonic CD, try before you buy.
  • Pros: Finally, we have Sonic CD! Both Vectorman titles are solid. Solid emulation.
  • Cons: The rest of the games seem like filler. Haven't we seen these GameGear games before?

Sonic Boom

Camus Lights, amazon.co.uk
19 April 2010
  • Summary: The main draw of this game is Sonic CD. I can't make up my mind whether this is one of the best Sonic games for its enormous size, or whether it annoys me for being too messy and sprawling. A quick runthrough doesn't reveal the depth of this game and I reckon trying to unlock everything in it would be pretty rewarding.

Poor deal for Gamecube owners.

Saul "Mr. Strange", amazon.co.uk
28 January 2010
  • Summary: Why no Knuckles Chaotix?!?!?! Anyway, the three main games on this collection (SONIC CD, SONIC FIGHTERS and SONIC R) are definitely worth getting your hands on if you were/are a fan of the classic Sonic games from the 90's. SONIC CD is excellent and is the best game on here. It's not quite Sonic 2, but it's a little known classic. 8/10 SONIC FIGHTERS is a stripped down version of Virtua Fighters 2, but with characters for the Sonic universe.

Redundant.

Mail-order Christ "A Prince Among Maggots", amazon.co.uk
4 November 2009
  • Summary: This is well worth getting on PS2, for which it is much cheaper. On Gamecube, it's garbage. You'll be paying upwards of four times the price because it's rare, and for what? Fewer features. That's right, because thw X button isn't used in the Gamecube version you can't use Debug mode properly. Even if you don't want to use this mode, it's a joke that you're expected to pay £25 for this when you can get the same game on another console for less than a fiver.

Lazy conversion of a mediocre collection

Neal Vincent, amazon.co.uk
7 November 2005
  • Summary: Two words: FIFTY HERTZ. The absence of a 60Hz display option on Sonic Gems means it's lazy PAL conversion time again! Sega did a top quality job with the previous Sonic Mega Collection on the Gamecube, which makes it all the more annoying that they didn't bother to lavish the same attention to detail on this second makeweight collection. Serious gamers who must have Sonic CD will know what to do - get out your Freeloader and import this one!
