brilliant game but Wii version is probably more appropriate

  • Summary: Brilliant game but a wii version with motion controls was released a few years ago and so i think the gamecube version (which is playable on Wii) is out of date. Still a very good creepy game but i recommend going for the Wii version if you are buying this game for wii

A fantastic remake

  • Excerpt: A successor to the old Alone In the Dark games, the original Resident Evil on playstation and PC is a hugely iconic third-person survival horror in which you find yourself running around a creepy gothic mansion infested with zombies, solving puzzles, carefully conserving your limited ammo and er, eating pot plants in order to stay alive (okay, so technically they're herbs).
  • Pros: great visuals, plays brilliantly
  • Cons: inventory system can be irritating

Resident evil 1 Gamecube Review

derpface, Ciao
19 February 2011
  • Excerpt: First off, one thing has to be said. In no way shape, or form, should the Resident Evil Games, be in anyway associated with the Resident Evil movie franchise, they are seperate entities entirely (with the games for the mostpart being very good, and the movies being utterly mediocre). This game is a remake of the origional which was first released on Sony's Playstation back in 1996, and was somewhat revolutionary for it's time.
  • Pros: A great improvement of the origional
  • Cons: it's abit easy untill you unlock the harder modes

The original Resident Evil rises once more from the grave...

MrSibs, Ciao
19 June 2010
  • Excerpt: This is the original Resident Evil as you’ve never seen it before. Forget the one zombie model and the identical corridors that made navigation hell. This time round there are a multitude of beautifully (maybe grotesquely would be more fitting) rendered zombies, and equally exquisite backdrops. Now obviously graphics aren’t everything, but in a game that thrives off tension and shocks, great graphics can really add to the atmosphere.
  • Pros: Resident Evil 1 as it was meant to be, Graphically very good, Some extra content for old fans
  • Cons: Clunky controls compared to the more streamlined Resident Evil 4 and 5

Good remake.

  • Summary: The Gamecube edition of the ultimate survival horror game Resident Evil, is a fantastic take on the original story of the Playstation game that started the whole franchise off. The gameplay is fantastic and obviously a little more advanced than the original, the story is pretty much the same with the exception of additional scenarios and a boss-type character called Lisa. The darker, more gothic look and concept of the game makes it all the more scarier.

  • Excerpt: Finally a mature game for Game. Resident evil is one of the most recognized and established franchise in the gaming world. After playing resident evil 4 recently , it was time to go back and re-play the first installment of the series. The one which was stunningly remade and released by Capcom for Nintendo Gamecube. Its one hella scary experience but I'd say a joyous one.
  • Pros: Not just a wasted opportunity -  a solid game
  • Cons: None

Remake of a classic - better or worse?

kayleaf, Ciao

  • Excerpt: The Gamecube remake of the first Resident Evil game, in my opinion, is slightly better than the original. Whilst I enjoyed both games, the remake was much more insightful and frightening to play. Game Plot The player chooses the scenario they want to play which is Chris or Jill. I have only ever played as Jill as her scernario is easier but it is completely down to the players preference.
  • Pros: enjoyable game, lots of zombies to kill
  • Cons: voice acting is a little off .

It's Resident Evil all grown up

Dr-Jones, Ciao

  • Excerpt: Remakes. Remakes are the classic double edged sword of the computer game world. On the one hand, most people like the idea of seeing their favourite games from yesteryear remade with cutting edge graphics and sound, and maybe even the odd tweak to make the gameplay more exciting. But on the other hand, changing the look and feel of a classic game robs it of the retro charm that most people find so appealing.
  • Pros: Stellar graphics, interesting new take on the game, better voice acting
  • Cons: Loses a little of the original's charm
