Evils Beginning Residence

Wise1Only, epinions.com
16 February 2007
  • Summary: I definitely recommend this game to any fan of the resident evil series.
  • Pros: More scary than RE4. Definitely worth the bucks if you're an RE fan.
  • Cons: Horrible movement and fighting will more likely get you killed than save your life.

A run-of-the-mill entry to the series

  • Summary: Ever since Resident Evil burst onto the scene back in the heady days of 1996, I was hooked on Capcom's survival horror series. The combination of puzzle solving, dodgy tongue-in-cheek voice acting, frantic gun battles and imaginative monsters was, for me, the ideal gaming formula. The original game received a welcome overhaul for the Gamecube a few years ago, and when a prequel was announced focussing on the ill-fated Bravo Team, I was intrigued. But is it any good?

Good, but 1 major flaw.

  • Summary: To be brief - most aspects of this game are very good - excellent graphics (maybe even surpassing the RE1 remake). A little slower moving than RE2, 3 or 4, and maybe not as scary, but for the most part a very good game. One big flaw detracts a lot of enjoyment though - the new method of managing items.

An Enjoyable but Slightly Diluted Prequel

  • Summary: The fact that the Resident Evil franchise has, somewhat unpopularly moved over to Nintendo (for all but the forthcoming Outbreak) has left some distinct problems. It seems that the manufacturer is unwilling to believe that Nintendo gamers have had access to Resi titles on other formats and have, therefore not borne witness to the development of the franchise.

Ingeniously challenged.

  • Summary: Being an avid Resident Evil fan there was never any question as to whetheror not I would purchase this game and the bottom line is that any RE(Resident Evil) fan should too. The story doesn't so much continue(Resident Evil 0 is a prequel to the original Resident Evil) but itexpands. That's not to say there isn't one nor am I saying that it's bad,but when you look at the big picture RE 0 does little to further theoverall story which is what I, personally, was looking for.

To be completely honest about Resident Evil Zero...

  • Summary: ... I'm disappointed. Having played pretty much every other 'Resident Evil' game available, and most of them through to the end, I finished RE-Zero and felt that something was missing. The graphics looked great, the soundtrack, effects and what-have-you were solid and atmopheric throughout, and the control system is exactly like every other RE game (this means clunky, but you get used to it), so what's missing? RE-Zero just feels a little bit shallow.
