List All 1 PricesBut if you're expecting something like Halo for the Gamecube, then think again, this game is something else entirely - more an adventure of exploration than out-and-out FPS. If you have a Gamecube then you'd be an idiot to miss this game, a truly amazing solo experience that would have surely benefited from a more standard control option and a two-player mode. Read more
Metroid Prime is still one of the greatest games of all time, but its success doesn't lie in any one avenue; its organic sense of progression, brilliant art design, extraordinarily dense and explorable world and innovative gameplay mechanics are all still impressive on their own, but it's the way the game is able to tie all these elements into one “thing” that makes this game a must-play classic for anyone who considers themselves a gamer. Metroid Prime is a game long in coming, but was well worth the wait. Averaging out at about twenty hours of play time (far longer than any other Metroid game, and indeed longer than most games of today), with huge, memorable boss battles, a huge amount of unique power-ups to collect, and even a decent story, Metroid Prime is a definite candidate for GCN game of the year. Is it worth buying? Definitely. Even FPS fans who know nothing of Metroid will find it a fun ride. Read more
The original Metroid was one of the first games I played when I got my Nintendo Entertainment System. That was over 15 years ago, and back then it was a milestone in adventure games. Keep in mind that this was during an era when most adventure games only involved horizontal scrolling, and Metroid's vertical depth added a unique addition to the mix. Read more
What's up, kiddos? Today I'm throwing down some old-school thoughts on Nintendo Gamecube's continuation of the Metroid Series, Metroid Prime. Now, I realize that the game is a little over two year old now, and was close to the actual launch of the Gamecube, so you'll have to forgive me for posting this review so long after the game has been released. When a classic character like Samus Aran makes a massive change from 2D to 3D, it can sometimes ruin its legacy but thankfully this isn't the case with Metroid Prime. What Nintendo and Retro Studios have done is create one of THE best games on the Gamecube. The game begins on a space station where you learn the basic controls. Read more
I am loving this game! Beautiful, wonderful structure, involving sound design. Got it cheap from Game a year ago and didn't bother playing it till last month. What a fool. Now I'm in a quandary: bought a Wii last week and have completely got into Super Mario Galaxy (looks great with a component cable on flatscreen BTW). Do I ditch Mario for Samus? And is it worth getting Metroid Prime 2 given that the Wii came with MP3? And why am I asking you? This isn't a forum! Read more
After weeks of playing Metroid Prime , I'm still not completely sure how I feel about it. On one hand you have a damn fine FPS (yeah yeah, I know..." it's not a FPS, it's a 1 st Person Adventure !"), but on the other hand you have a game that just doesn't quite feel like a Metroid title, even though it tries really hard to. Samus first stopped the evil Space Pirates and Mother Brain from amassing an army of Metroids on the planet Zebes. Then she was called on to finish the job on SR388, ultimately ridding the universe of all but a single Metroid larva. In Super Metroid, for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Samus thwarted Mother Brain`s attempt to snatch the captive Metroid larva from the scientists on Ceres. Now, Samus is once again called to investigate Space Pirate activities o…
