Excerpt: Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders have nothing on Mario and friends. Who knew the Italian plumber and his buddies were such versatile athletes? Between star turns playing golf and tennis, as well as cameos in a street basketball and soon a snowboarding game, it seems there isn't a sport the Mushroom Kingdom characters can't play. The crew takes to the diamond in the newest Mario sports game, Mario Superstar Baseball.
Pros: Easy to pick up and play, Lots of recognizable and not-so-recognizable Mario characters, Good variety of minigames
Cons: Horrible baserunning AI, Defensive control not very precise, Not many different fields
Conclusion: AI Character control looks to be very nice in this title as well. When a ball is sent flying into the sky, every character on the field follows it with their eyes, much like how real players react in a real game of baseball. Characters in the outfield can do everything from diving for fast- falling balls to jumping up against the walls to prevent a home run from sneaking over. Players who had any doubt of this game’s polish need not worry any longer.
Excerpt: There are two vastly differing opinions concerning Nintendo’s use of their flagship character, Mario. The first camp feels that Nintendo are saturating the market with a slew of Mario titles to fill the gaps in the software line-up for their ageing GameCube, while the other mob are just happy to play whatever the Kyoto Giant releases.
