It is a single player and multiplayer game. The game makes use of the microphone peripheral introduced with Mario Party 6 and includes five entirely new worlds. Gameplay centres around Toadsworth who has invited Mario and all his friends to go on a luxury cruise around the world, with the exception of Bowser. Passengers soon discover that Bowser is exacting revenge by turning their vacation paradise into a stress-filled madhouse.
The goal of Mario Party 7 is to gather stars. Up to eight players may participate in either Party Cruise or Deluxe Cruise (the 8 player equivalent of the Mini-Game Cruise). Players are split into teams of two and are required to share a controller. Single player mode puts one player against another (either computer controlled or human played) in trying to complete the set objective on the board map before the other can. There are nine types of minigames in the game, 4-P, 1 vs.3, 2 vs.2, Battle, Duel, 8-P, DK, Bowser, and Rare. For four-player and one versus three, there are an additional five minigames that can be played with the microphone.

Over the years, Mario Party has become the franchise that many fans buy solely as a reflex action. But at this point it might be time to recondition that reaction to a new release. But for anyone expecting to have a great time with less than four people, this release can kill the party instead of starting it. Read more

Mario Party is just an old series and has been stagnant for the past several years. Pretty much the only real options for Nintendo are to make a Mario Party compilation title, wait for the Revolution for the chance for more diverse mini-games, or just continue spewing out increasingly unimpressive games. This game isn’t really too great, and there are other, better four-player multiplayer games on the Cube, and this one just doesn’t stack up to Smash Bros. Melee or... Read more

This game can be a riot, with it's wierd minigames and characters. The board game based moving system is kinda lacking and takes away from the classic mario because the only time your really in controll is when you're playing amini game. Some mini games are great, allowing you to take controll for giant cannons, sharks, and tanks an obliterate your weak defensless enimies, but some are less enjoyable giving you weird character handling, view points, or rules, forcing you... Mario Party 7 continues the gameplay found in the previous 3-6 titles - fun mini-games activated as you wander around a game board, often won more by luck than by skill. Mario Party 7 comes packaged with a microphone to add a new twist on the games - voice interaction. It works well for the most part, though the GameCube mics aren't the great quality audio devices.
