Mario Party 6 (GameCube) Review

Vooks
17 April 2006
  • Excerpt: EA are masters of it; releasing the same game with a few minor changes and a new year added at the end of the title. It must be a developers dream to be able to create an entirely “new” piece of software with minimal ease. Mario Party comes to us each year in a very similar manner. Sure, there are some minor changes and new (read: thinly disguised duplicates) mini games, but underneath all the so-called changes is the same game.

Mario Party 6

Nintendo World Report
8 December 2004
  • Summary: Mario now has to count with both hands on the box art.
  • Pros: Loads of new mini-games with good variety, Still a good party/drinking game
  • Cons: Meager new features hardly justify buying another game, Microphone is underutilized and hard to use, Randomly losing all your stars to the worst player

Mario Party 6 Review

GameSpot
6 December 2004
  • Summary: On the surface, Mario Party 6 seems to offer some of the biggest fundamental changes the series has ever seen. But this is really just a fresh coat of paint on an old building.
  • Pros: Simple, accessible gameplay, Great for multiplayer, Fun for the whole family, Novel voice-activated gameplay
  • Cons: Technically unimpressive, More of the same

Mario Party 6

Project COE
6 December 2004
  • Conclusion: Mario Party 6 is undoubtedly the best version in the series thus far. Many people herald the first two games as the pinnacle in the series. If that's the case, then this game definitely follows in the footsteps of those games. There's more substance to this Mario Party game than the last few titles including new changes, new characters, varied boards and board elements.
