Gun (GC)

  • Excerpt: Ever since the Tony Hawk franchise started, developer Neversoft Entertainment (often credited for innovating, and helping to create, the action sports genre) has not created a single original title, save for two or three Spider-Man titles that were published for the PS1. And then, just as things began to really look down for the Hawk series, Neversoft splits its team into two, and creates two games: Gun and Tony Hawk?s American Wasteland.

Gun Review

VideoGamer.com
4 December 2006
  • Excerpt: What do you do when you're fed up with making yearly skateboard titles that appeal to a hugely broad demographic? Make a brutal shooter set in the Wild West that carries an 18-certificate and has the 'kids can't play this' appeal of the Grand Theft Auto series. This is what famed Tony Hawk developer Neversoft has done, and while it's not really a genre that you could have predicted they would move into, GUN is a solid entry in what will undoubtedly be the first of a new...

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: It's refreshing to play an action game that isn't set in an inner-city environment and that alone is almost reason enough to give Gun a try. While the gameplay may not be all we wanted it to be, it's still a competent vehicle for getting you through the twists of the blood-soaked story. If you're a fan of the Wild West, you're probably already playing this, but if you're not, you might want to give this one another look.

  • Excerpt: Gun is the story Colton White, son to a hunter simply named Ned. From the get go Ned is killed on a steamboat hijacking, before he dies Ned gives Colton instructions to seek out a girl named Jenny and gives you a token to see her at the Alhambra Saloon, give you one guess what Jennys profession is? Set in the Wild West of the early 19th century Gun is a gritty and violent portrayal of the time and features an open ended sandbox approach to how the game is played out.

  • Excerpt: ZAP! BANG! POW! You're dead. When I was growing up, my friends and I shot each other endlessly with all kinds of cap guns (this was before we were allowed to get BB guns). Most of them looked liked revolvers (cowboy or cop), some looked like automatics or machine guns, and my best friend had a pair of matched flintlocks that could actually shoot a ball of cork about 20 feet.

  • Pros: Sfeer, Goed gebalanceerde gameplay, Verhaal, Stemacteurs
  • Cons: Te kort, Kleine slordigheidsfoutjes

GUN
