Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
24 March 2008
Excerpt: >While it received a really bad rap overall, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles also managed to upstart a new subseries to Square Enix’s megafranchise, so perhaps it did do something right. Namely, it was fun to play in a group. So welcome to a short review.
Excerpt: It has been a very long time since a Final Fantasy game appeared on a Nintendo console. Ignoring the Game Boy incarnations, Final Fantasy and Square have been absent since the “good ol’ days” of Super Nintendo. With the announcement of Crystal Chronicles, devoted fans and Nintendo aficionados went crazy in excitement and hope. Like most Final Fantasy games, Crystal Chronicles is a world teetering on the brink of devastation and chaos.
Summary: I was playing it today, and I hit a bat with a club. I may as well be jumping on crates in a sewer level, or collecting bafmodads.
Pros: Awesome graphics and music, It's four-player and has a good implementation of teamwork., Reasonable variety of playable characters
Cons: I'd rather just have menus for all players on-screen than use so many batteries (not applicable to the SP crew, though)., Slogging through dungeons without any unique takes on the gameplay really sucks., The 'bucket' is a bit too limiting, especially with bosses taking up so much space in the field.
