Conclusion: By its name, you can tell Burnout 3 is obviously the third in the high-octane racing series famous for its high-risk, car-smashing, 60-frames-per-second driving. But this isn’t merely a retread of the popular Burnout franchise. No, instead of suffering from a scorching case of sequelitis, developer Criterion has taken the best elements of Burnout 2 and revamped and refined them into a lava-hot new game which kicks in a nitro-boost of online play that could (and...
Summary: Burnout was inspired by some of the most memorable car chase scenes from the greatest action films of all time. The game features an incredibly sophisticated and intelligent traffic system, challenging players to race to the finish line at breakneck speeds through a myriad of trucks, cars and buses. With dramatic crashes possible with every turn of the wheel, competing drivers are rewarded for pushing the envelope and their skills to the extreme.

Excerpt: The name of the game is to be as reckless as possible. Players start by taking part in single races or championship tours, going against 3 other hotrods for 3 laps to see who is the fastest roadster out there. There is one little hitch: everyday traffic congests the roads. Here's where the fun kicks in, though, as hazardous stunts can be pulled off in exchange for filling the turbo meter.
Excerpt: Ah... the hustle and bustle of everyday traffic that keeps today's economy going: people on their way to work, trucks full of products to ship, and carpool vans full of kids going to school. Bored riders stare out of their bus windows as A CRAZY MANIAC drives head on towards them, demolishing the minivans of soccer moms and running red lights!
Excerpt: Burnout isn't the most realistic racer I've ever seen, but it's still a great looking game. The most notable thing about the game is the silky-smooth frame rate. This goes a long way in giving the game true sense of speed, especially when you have an interstate full of cars going the opposite way! The cars are nicely modeled, and while they lack some detail, you can still tell what they are (or rather, what they are trying to be). Sound is a mixed bag.
